Masai Point Overlook at Chiricahua Ntl Monument59 viewsThis is a shot from the nature trail at Masai Point. It was a white-bright day and we weren't up to another hike just yet, so we drove up to the overlook. It was so bright that we needed filters we did not have.

Views in Chiricahua National Monument58 views We hiked the Lower Rhyolite Canyon trail to the junction with the Sarah Deming trail, bound for the Heart of Rocks. We never made it that far, prudently saving enough energy for the return home to the ranger station. These views lined the trail we did hike though, and made the hike worthwhile.

Finished loaves, cooling on the rack57 viewsBaked fully, and cooling on a rack, singing away. As the crust cools it cracks into small "plates", and the crackling sound is clearly audible.

Yellow Bellied Marmot at Shoshone Falls57 viewsWe thought this guy was so cute, and we tiptoed around and scurried to get photos. Then we figure out he was actually following us. They are so spoiled and tame we could have shouted and screamed, and as long as he continued to believe he might get fed, which he did not, he'd have put up with anything. So sad...

The Eye - Battery Point Lighthouse57 viewsBecause the immediate grounds were closed we sought out a distant vantage point. We found one along the shoreline drive near Brother Jonathan Park in time for the sunset. This shot was the one that made us realize we need a 70-200mm zoom lense in our kit.
