On the SoundThis shot was taken from the Friday Harbor-Anacortes Ferry. On the left is James Island, and on the right is Decatur Head, the Easternmost tip of Decatur Island. The sky wasn't great this day, but the light and the water were what attracted my attention.Oct 30, 2020

Lime Kiln Lighthouse at Friday Harbor in the San Juan IslandsI whish I had used a polarizing filter to cut through the background haze on this shot. The lighthouse itself came out well, but not the hazy background.Oct 29, 2020
ElectraRoadPoppies-180401-92_PortfolioExp.jpg
Electra Road SpringThis is a favorite California location for viewing poppies. It is just outside of Jackson. Sadly, it was burnt to a crisp in a 2018 wildfire.Oct 28, 2020
MtShasta_PortfolioExp.jpg
Mount Shasta Sunset from the NorthOn a trip home from Washington on New Years Eve in 2016 we stopped at the Weed Airport Rest Stop on I-5 South. We were timed just right to catch the sunset on Mount Shasta on a mostly clear evening. Oct 27, 2020
10072020_SunLakeDryFalls_41_PortfolioExp.jpg
Dry Falls SunriseThe sun is just above the horizon at this early hour, and the landscape is infused with golden sunshine. It is very early (for me) to rise, but well worth it.Oct 23, 2020
09302020_PicnicPoint_28_PortfolioExp.jpg
Picnic Point SunsetThis was my very earliest experiment with neutral density filters and extended exposure. As a first try it came out pretty well.Oct 12, 2020

10022020_NooksackFalls_7_PortfolioExp.jpg
Nooksack Falls on the Mt Baker HighwayThis is the best I could do over the cyclone fence guarding these falls from stupid human tricks. One of my earliest experiments with long exposures and Neutral Density filters.Oct 03, 2020

Shoshone Falls RainbowShoshone Falls near Meridian was quite a spectacle on this sun drenched morning. Mist rising off the falls with the sun at just the right angle provided a beautiful view.Sep 14, 2020
04182020_BalancedRock_8_PortfolioExp.jpg
Balanced RockAn interesting ladscape feature off by itself near Idaho Falls, Idaho. It was a bright, blue, hot day on the slpe, and quite busy. Clearly visible from the parking area, and lots of people streaming to and from on the rocky paths.Sep 07, 2020
08012020_MoonShootSeattle_6_PortfolioExp.jpg
Seattle Skyline at SunsetThis was taken from Kerry Park on Queen Ann Hill in Seattle, as the sun was setting. At this time it was low to the horizon, but not yet below. A lot of humidity meant a lot of haze on this night, spoiling these shots in the distant reaches.Aug 15, 2020
04172020_ShoshonehFalls_58_copy_PortfolioExp.jpg
The Snake River just below Shoshone FallsThis is the down river view from the Shoshone Falls overlook. Among other things, the Evil Knievel jump site is just at the far end of the view. This was taken on our first day at the falls.Jul 28, 2020

Yellow Bellied Marmot at Shoshone FallsWe thought this guy was so cute, and we tiptoed around and scurried to get photos. Then we figure out he was actually following us. They are so spoiled and tame we could have shouted and screamed, and as long as he continued to believe he might get fed, which he did not, he'd have put up with anything. So sad...Jul 28, 2020

Ely, NV - Ward Charcoal Ovens - Inside, looking upThese ovens offer a strange view when standing inside. Just the small door, and a chimney hole in the top. They filled them up with dry mesquite, lit a fire and closed the door, and waited to harvest the resulting charcoal.Jul 25, 2020
