San Joaquin Delta Cloudy DayThe clouds, and their reflection in the water, caught my interest on this visit. We had hoped for Sandhill Cranes, but this was the consolation for not finding any.

Avila Beach in Late AfternoonThe clouds in this shot are the reason I like it so much. I only got one or two shots worth keeping on this day, and this was one of them.

Relentless OceanThese rocks show the results of years, decades, centuries, maybe millennia of exposure to sand and sea.

Lower Ryholite Trail bound for Heart of RocksThis trail wound up the Lower Ryholite Canyon of Chiricahua National Monument. These views predominated, especially on the uppper portion of the hike.

Views in Chiricahua National Monument We hiked the Lower Rhyolite Canyon trail to the junction with the Sarah Deming trail, bound for the Heart of Rocks. We never made it that far, prudently saving enough energy for the return home to the ranger station. These views lined the trail we did hike though, and made the hike worthwhile.

Chiricahua National MonumentAnother rim view from along the Lower Rhyolite Trail.

Masai Point Overlook at Chiricahua Ntl MonumentThis is a shot from the nature trail at Masai Point. It was a white-bright day and we weren't up to another hike just yet, so we drove up to the overlook. It was so bright that we needed filters we did not have.

Drama at Sundown: the rule, not the exceptionThis sunset is from the early part of our stay. This drama repeated in glorious variety during our entire visit. We had front row views thanks to our hand picked location in the park. Thanks R&J!

Wilcox SunsetSunset is an amazing and dramtic time of day in many places, but almost every day it is the case in this place.

Cochise Stronghold Skyline #3We found these beautiful rocks and skies over Cochise Stronghold on one of our shorter hikes. The rocks in southeastern Arizona are amazing!

Cochise Stronghold Skyline #4Another view of the skylined rocks against a blue sky and clouds. This day was full of these.

Cochise Stronghold Skyline #5This is a different point of view of this part of the skyline.
03292020FortBowie_54v1_PortfolioExp.jpg
Fort Bowie - Fortress in the skyThe ruins of Fort Bowie are at roughly 5000 feet elevation. It is high enough to see for a long way on clear days. Unlike this day, unfortunately, which was dominated by bright scattered light from nearly full overcast leaden skies.
